The William is indespensable for belaying directly from the anchor point with a Munter hitch on single or double rope. The large size and pear shape allow an Italian hitch to invert easily even when the rope is icy or muddy.

too big
It's just a little bit too big for regular use. Although
safe, the gate has some flex that always makes me nervous. The red locking-mark
is nice, though.
